If you read my home school blog, then the following will be a repeat. The reasons for resurrecting this blog are the same as the reasons I have for resurrecting my home school blog. Most often my entries will be quite different, but for today, I’m going to do a double post.
*********************
I’ve been thinking about my long neglected blogs.
But before I started thinking about my blogs I was thinking about the fact that two of my children are graduating in June and I’ll have only one child to teach next year. As I pondered I began to think that I should be able to give that one child the attention she needs for school and still have some time for…. What? I would like to work more often on my scrapbooks. Maybe. The house needs some decluttering (a never ending process) and reorganization and redecorating, but I hope to do a majority of that over the summer. I realized that I need to begin to write. I need to practice my writing.
That’s when I remembered my blogs. It’s time to resurrect them. It’s time to practice some self discipline and commit to myself, for myself, to write at least one piece a week. That’s two pieces a month for this blog and two pieces a month for my other blog. I can certainly do that much.
One would hope.
I can’t believe it’s been over two years since I last posted. I should have plenty to write about here. If not what’s going on in the present, reflection upon the past.
I don’t know who or if anyone will be reading, but I’m not doing it for that as much as for my own good. I was a writing major in college and I want to work towards doing something with my writing. This will give me the practice that I need. I realized that one of the reasons I didn’t keep up with my blogs is that I wanted perfection, or close to it. Whatever I said in my blogs I wanted to say well.
I still want that, but I was reminded of the axiom, “perfection is the enemy of progress”. If I want my writing to improve, I need to just start writing and not worry that someone will find obvious grammar mistakes or find my thoughts trite. After all, I’ve never claimed to be an editor or a deep philosopher.
So let the writing begin!
